Job Details:

• Function primarily in direct patient care with competent clinical practice
• Triage patients, obtain patient history and vital signs, and assess patients
• Act independently to initiate immediate care in life-threatening situations when physician is absent
• Provide care for both acutely ill and non-acute patients
• Perform multiple procedures utilizing complex and simple nursing skills
• Assist physicians with their procedures
• Provide physical and psychological comfort to patients, families, and visitors
• Provide discharge and follow-up instructions to patients and families
• Answer ambulance radios and give appropriate orders for prehospital care without assistance
• Work with multiple types of sophisticated equipment in frequently stressful environment
• Perform nursing assessments, intervene appropriately and participate in care planning
• Process physician/provider orders accurately, completely, and in timely manner
• Evaluate effectiveness of treatment plans and suggest improvements
• Work every other weekend schedule
• No on-call responsibilities
• 2+ years of ER experience required
• Travel work experience highly preferred
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), TNCC, NRP, BLS (AHA)
• Active Michigan nursing license required with LARA and/or Nursys verification
• Skills checklist current within 1 year required
• Two supervisory reference forms completed within last two years required
