Locum Tenens Opportunity: General Medicine Nurse Practitioner Near Palmer, AK We are actively seeking experienced General Medicine Nurse Practitioners (NPs) for a locum tenens position near Palmer, AK. This ongoing, PRN (as-needed) role involves conducting Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments for Veterans. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of Veterans while enjoying the flexibility of a PRN schedule. The position is available immediately. Position Overview: Profession: Nurse Practitioner (NP) Specialty: General Medicine Rate Type: Daily Emergency/Temp Privileges: No Shift Type: Days (PRN - As Needed Basis) Start Date: ASAP End Date: Ongoing Key Responsibilities: C&P Exams: Perform one-time, non-treatment Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments for Veterans. Assessment Focus: Conduct interview-based evaluations with some physical assessments, such as range of motion and muscle strength testing. No prescribing or treatment is involved; the role is focused solely on assessment. Specialization Requirements: Familiarity with musculoskeletal conditions, diabetes, and cardiovascular issues is required. Proficiency in METs testing and the evaluation and diagnosis of respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological conditions is essential. Coverage Options: Travel to VES-leased facilities to conduct exams. Alternatively, schedule and perform exams within your own practice, providing flexibility in your work location. Option to work half-days (4 hours) or full days (8 hours), depending on your availability. Support & Training: Training: Comprehensive training will be provided for all Reporting/Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs). Support is available for using the provider portal for submitting evaluations. Documentation: Complete and submit Reporting/DBQs within 48 hours of exam completion. No narrative report is required; the end product is the completion of standardized forms. Regular follow-up administrative work, including addendums, medical opinions, and diagnostic readings, will be required. Equipment & Technology: Laptop Requirement: Providers must use their own personal laptop (NO MACs). Quick Credentialing: A fast-track credentialing and onboarding process is available to get you started promptly. Qualifications: Certification Requirements: AANP certified. Licensure: Must have an active Alaska state license. Eligible Specialties: Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, or any NP with a background in general medicine or experience with compensation and pension exams. Additional Details: Providers Needed: 3 DMA Certification: Available, offering CME credits and required once privileged if not already certified.
