A Board Certified Family Practice physician providing non-treatment Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments for Veterans across multiple California locations. Responsibilities include conducting interview-based evaluations and limited physical assessments without prescribing treatment. The role requires proficiency in general medicine, active California medical licensure, and administrative follow-up tasks on a PRN basis.

This facility is part of Veterans Evaluation Services (VES), a Maximus company that works as a government contractor helping our nation's Veterans. They provide Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments across multiple locations throughout California.
Opportunity:
Board Certified - General Medicine
Job Details:
• Perform one-time non-treatment Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments for Veterans• Multiple locations available: Santa Rosa (1 day/week), Ukiah (2 days/week), Susanville (1 day/week), Crescent City (2 days/week), Ft Irwin (1 day/week), Sonora area (1 day/week)• Provider's home address must be within required radius of location (varies by site from 30-50 miles)• Some positions require provider to have their own office• PRN basis, ongoing opportunity• Option to work half days (4-hours) and/or full days (8-hours)• Exams are primarily interview-based with some physical assessment: range of motion testing, muscle strength testing• No prescribing or treatment involved• Quick credentialing and onboarding process• Acceptable specialties: family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or experience with general medicine/compensation and pension• Must be proficient in METs testing, evaluating and diagnosing respiratory and cardiovascular conditions• Requires active and unrestricted California medical license• Must own a laptop (no Mac/Apple products)• Candidates must be willing to complete DMA training to become DMA certified• Not available to active military duty, reserves, or those actively employed at the VA• Administrative follow-up work required on a regular basis (addendums, medical opinions, reading diagnostics)• Local candidates only, travel included in rates
Compensation:
Competitive hourly rates with weekly pay and malpractice included.
