Locum Tenens Neurohospitalist Opportunity Near Petersburg, VA (Job ID: j-244466) We are currently seeking an experienced and board-certified Neurohospitalist for a locum tenens position near Petersburg, VA. This position is an excellent opportunity for a physician with a strong background in neurology and hospitalist care, looking to contribute to a dynamic inpatient environment. The role is available immediately and will continue on an ongoing basis. Position Overview: Profession: Physician Specialty: Neurohospitalist Location: Near Petersburg, VA Start Date: ASAP End Date: Ongoing Shift Description: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM or 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Weekend Requirements: As part of a 7 on/7 off call rotation On Call: 24-hour call coverage during assigned weeks Work Setting: Inpatient Neuro Consult Service EMR System: EPIC Job ID: j-244466 Key Responsibilities: Patient Care: Provide specialized neurohospitalist services for adult patients in an inpatient setting. Manage a daily census of approximately 15 patients, focusing on neurology consults. Respond to neuro consults within 24 hours, ensuring timely and effective care. Consultation and Rounding: Conduct rounds in the Emergency Department (ED) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Provide comprehensive neurological care and consultative services across various inpatient units. Work closely with one Advanced Practice Provider (APP) available Monday through Friday to support patient care. Coverage Details: Participate in a 7 on/7 off call rotation, with 24-hour coverage during on-call weeks. No responsibilities for responding to in-house codes or supervising other healthcare providers. Neuro emergencies, including code stroke responses, are managed via teleneurology, allowing focus on consultative care. Qualifications: Board Certification: Must be Board Certified in Neurology. Licensing: Must hold or be willing to obtain an active Virginia medical license. Certifications Required: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Basic Life Support (BLS) Experience: Prior experience as a Neurohospitalist is preferred but not mandatory. Additional Information: Practice Setting: Inpatient neuro consult service with a focus on delivering high-quality neurological care. No other Neurohospitalists will be present during the locum‘s coverage, providing an opportunity for autonomous practice. Work Schedule: Standard working hours are from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The position requires participation in a structured call rotation, with no additional weekend or night shifts outside of assigned call weeks.
