A Gastroenterology Physician is needed in Massachusetts to provide inpatient care, including endoscopies and emergency consults, on a locum-to-perm basis starting mid-December 2025. The role involves managing 4-12 hospital patients daily within a group of four physicians and requires board certification and Massachusetts licensure. This opportunity offers work in a well-equipped hospital setting with a 1:4 call schedule and no outpatient responsibilities.
ON HOLD - 01.05.2026 We are actively seeking a skilled Gastroenterology Physician to join our team in an inpatient setting. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to provide essential care while covering for a recent retirement. The role will commence in mid-December 2025 and continue until a permanent placement is secured. Practice Details: Setting: Inpatient with a call structure of approximately 1:4, from Friday 4 PM to the following Friday 4 PM, including floor, ED, ICU, emergent consults, and endoscopies as needed. On Call: Carry beeper overnight. Clinical Areas: Adult, Hospital, Gastro, Endoscopy. Onsite Facilities: Lab and X-Ray available. Outpatient Requirements: Not required. Patient Volume: Average of 4-12 hospital-based patients per day. Group Size: 4 Physicians. EMR System: EPIC. Credentialing: Estimated to start mid to late December. Required Procedures: Esophageal Dilatation/Manometry Esophageal Manometry Interpretation Small Bowel Biopsy Lower GI Endoscopy Sigmoidoscopy Colonoscopy Liver Biopsy Types of Upper GI Endoscopy Required: With Biopsy With Foreign Body Removal With Fulguration of Bleeder (Cautery vs. Laser) With Injection of Varices With Banding of Varices Diagnostic Therapeutic With PEG (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy) Submission Requirements: Board Certified/Board Eligible (BC preferred) Active Massachusetts License BLS Certification ERCP Certification is a plus but not mandatory This is a remarkable opportunity for a dedicated physician to make a significant impact in a supportive and well-equipped environment.
