Position SummaryUnder limited supervision, the Clinical Nurse Expert (CNE) applies advanced clinical expertise and influence across the three spheres of practice—patient/family, staff, and system—to transform healthcare delivery and improve patient outcomes. The CNE maintains current, evidence-based knowledge in their area of expertise and collaborates with interdisciplinary and interprofessional healthcare teams to ensure seamless, high-quality care across the continuum.
This role exemplifies the Professional Practice Model and requires strong collaboration with all levels of the organization, across the LifeBridge Health system, and with community partners. The CNE works under the direct supervision of the assigned Director.

ExperienceRequired:
3–5 years of nursing experience
Required:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Preferred:
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
Required:
Registered Nurse (RN) – Current Maryland license or eligibility to obtain
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Preferred:
APRN – Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) license (Maryland or eligibility to obtain)
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Provides direct patient care and consultation when advanced clinical skills are required
Collaborates with patients and families to promote health, well-being, and quality of life
Serves as a liaison between providers and staff to support continuity of care
Identifies risks to patient safety, autonomy, and quality based on assessments across all spheres of influence
Synthesizes complex clinical data using advanced clinical judgment to guide interventions
Documents consultations and care provided in accordance with hospital and nursing policies
Provides patient and family education as appropriate
Promotes development of clinical reasoning and decision-making among healthcare team members
Coaches staff to enhance clinical skills, systems thinking, and independent problem-solving
Mentors nurses, graduate students, and healthcare professionals in evidence-based practice
Participates in peer review and interdisciplinary patient care conferences
Serves as educator for assigned units in the absence of a dedicated educator
Designs, implements, and evaluates care delivery models and practice improvements
Leads system change initiatives to improve clinical and system-level outcomes
Identifies system inefficiencies and drives improvement plans with measurable outcomes
Guides adoption and sustainability of evidence-based and best practices
Participates in quality improvement, performance improvement, and research initiatives
Conducts or contributes to outcome studies to evaluate effectiveness of interventions

Applies conflict management and negotiation skills to achieve shared goals
Coordinates population-based care using system and community resources
