American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN with strong ortho, spine, and robotic experience for a Level III trauma center in Washington with 10-hour day shifts and required call.
Responsibilities- Work in the Operating Room (OR) unit of a Level III trauma center
- 12 OR suites with 11 running daily and a 12th hybrid room
- Handles 40-50 surgical cases daily including ortho, sports medicine, spine, robotics, ENT, general, GYN, vascular, urology, and podiatry
- Minimal pediatric cases, typically ENT
- No open heart, transplant, or high-level neuro procedures
- Uses Epic for charting, along with Alaris and Pyxis
- Shift: 10-hour days with variable start times at 0630, 0830, or 1030
- On-call required: 4-6 shifts per 6 weeks, including nights and weekends, with a 30-minute response time
- Weekend work is expected per department needs
- Floating to inpatient areas (Med/Surg, ICU, PCU, ED Holding, PACU, etc.) may be required if census is low, but without patient assignment or medication administration
- Must circulate (not scrub) in the described case types
- Will function as runner or provide supportive tasks when floating, not as primary patient caregiver
- Team-oriented and flexible candidates preferred
- Scrub color is provided by the facility
- No phones allowed on the unit
- Required to adhere to department break policy: three 15-minute breaks and one 30-minute lunch for 12-hour shifts, two 15-minute breaks and one 30-minute lunch for 8- and 10-hour shifts
- No sleep rooms available during on-call time
- First-time travelers will not be considered
- Up to 5 days of RTO (requested time off) can be approved, more requires special approval
- Orientation includes New Employee Orientation and Epic training, followed by unit orientation
- Active WA or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of acute/inpatient OR RN experience required
- Strong experience in ortho (including total joints), sports medicine, spine, and robotics (DaVinci preferred)
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must pass a rhythm exam prior to arrival
