The Family Medicine Physician with Obstetrics provides comprehensive, continuous medical care to patients of all ages, including prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum care. This role emphasizes preventive care, diagnosis and management of acute and chronic conditions, women s health, and obstetric services, while coordinating care across the healthcare continuum to deliver patient-centered, evidence-based care.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide comprehensive primary care services to pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients
Deliver full-spectrum obstetric care, including prenatal care, labor and delivery management, and postpartum follow-up, consistent with training and privileges
Perform routine gynecologic care, including well-woman exams, contraception counseling, and cervical cancer screening
Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions
Deliver preventive care including health maintenance, screenings, and immunizations
Manage chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, and cardiovascular disease
Perform office-based procedures and obstetric procedures as appropriate
Coordinate care with obstetrics, pediatrics, specialists, hospitals, and ancillary services
Provide patient education regarding wellness, pregnancy, disease prevention, and treatment plans
Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation
Participate in quality improvement, population health, and patient safety initiatives
Supervise and collaborate with advanced practice providers, residents, and clinical staff as applicable
Comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school
Completion of an accredited Family Medicine residency program with obstetrical training
Board-eligible or board-certified in Family Medicine
Ability to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensure
DEA registration or eligibility
BLS and ACLS required; additional obstetric certifications as required by scope of practice
Broad clinical expertise across the lifespan, including obstetric care
Strong diagnostic, procedural, and clinical decision-making skills
Ability to manage both routine and urgent obstetric situations
Excellent communication and patient counseling abilities
Commitment to evidence-based practice and patient-centered care
Outpatient clinic, labor and delivery unit, and hospital setting
Call coverage including obstetrics as determined by practice needs
Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout clinic and hospital environments
Manual dexterity for examinations, office-based, and obstetric procedures
Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for patient assessment and delivery care
