American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position in a Level I Trauma Center, requiring critical care skills and a MO or compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Work in a hospital-based PACU and interventional radiology pre/post area within a Level I Trauma Center
- Patient population includes adults, occasional adolescents, and geriatric patients
- Recover surgical patients from specialties such as neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, trauma, and transplant (excluding open heart and liver transplant)
- Unit features 38 patient bays with an average daily census of 70-90
- Shifts are four 10-hour days (Monday–Friday) with rotating start times and no weekends or call
- Floats are required within PACU and pre-op units as needed to meet facility needs
- Epic EMR is used in the unit, and experience is required
- Care for high-acuity post-operative patients, including those with artificial airways, invasive monitoring, and vasoactive infusions
- No requirement to recover open heart surgeries or liver transplants
- Unit supported by its own PCT and transport team
- Hospital is a Magnet-recognized, teaching facility
- Navy blue scrubs are required
- Parking is available for a fee
- No more than 7 days of requested time off (RTO) are permitted during the 13-week contract; no RTO allowed in the first week of orientation
- Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as travelers
- Eligible travelers can stay up to 18 months before a required 3-month break
- Active MO or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- A minimum of 2 years of recent PACU or critical care RN experience required
- Certifications required: BLS and ACLS
- Experience in a Level I Trauma Center, Phase I PACU, and inpatient settings necessary
- Proficiency in dysrhythmia recognition/management, blood product administration, phlebotomy, starting IVs, IV vasopressors, ICP monitoring, and care of ventilated patients
- Epic EMR experience required
- Applicants must live at least 75 miles from the facility
- First-time travelers will be considered
