American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring telemetry and EPIC experience, ACLS/BLS/NIHSS certifications, and a VA or compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Work in a 25-bed medical PCU specializing in care for acutely and chronically ill adults with complex medical diagnoses
- Typical patient ratio is 4:1, with a maximum of 5:1
- Day shifts with 3x12 hour scheduling (6:45a-7:15p), with option for 4x12s upon request
- Weekend requirement may be every other weekend or six shifts in a six-week scheduling period
- Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
- Floating required within skillset to other PCUs or Medical-Surgical units
- Remote telemetry monitoring with monitors remaining on the unit and tele-sitting implemented for additional support
- EPIC charting system experience is required
- Provide advanced nursing care to a diverse population of acutely and chronically ill adult patients with complex needs
- Work alongside internal medicine physicians and residents in a team environment
- First-time travelers are accepted for this position
- Locals are accepted; refer to recruiter for any applicable radius rule
- All requests for time off must be submitted in advance; Christmas RTO is not permitted
- Must be prepared to respond as part of Rapid Response and Code teams as needed
- Active RN license for VA or a Compact state; pending license accepted only for non-compact single-state license holders
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Experience in Tele, PCU, DOU, IMC, or stepdown settings required
- Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, emergency response, and administration of cardiac drips with no titration
- Competency in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care
- Respiratory management skills including use of nasal cannula, oxygen administration, CPAP, BiPAP, and non-invasive airway management
- Ability to provide care involving chest tubes, trach care, PICC line management, and medication administration
