American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department night shift position requiring a BSN, WV or compact RN license, and prior travel experience.
Responsibilities- Work in a high-volume Emergency Department within an acute care hospital setting
- 40-bed ER including 2 trauma bays, 7-bed Rapid Medical Exam area, and 2 psych/seclusion rooms
- Patient ratio is typically 1:4 for RNs with an average census of about 120 patients per day
- Night shift, 12 hours (7p-7a), with every other weekend and holiday coverage as needed
- Care for a wide variety of patients including trauma, STEMI, stroke, behavioral health, and pediatric/adolescent behavioral cases
- Use Epic EMR for documentation; Epic experience required
- No floating required
- Daily responsibilities include triage, trauma care, wound management, foley insertion/removal, lab draws, EKGs, and assisting with respiratory support equipment
- Free charge nurse on unit 24/7, with additional support from ED techs (typically with EMS background) and 24/7 in-house RT and pharmacy
- Serves as both a STEMI and Stroke Center; some critical cases stabilized then transferred out depending on acuity
- Orientation consists of 1-2 twelve-hour shifts depending on experience
- Scrub color is navy blue with navy or white jacket and white or navy undershirt; natural hair color required and distasteful tattoos must be covered
- Returning candidates must have a 2-year break from any prior employment (permanent or travel) within the WVU system
- Not accepting local candidates within 50 miles of the facility
- Active WV or compact RN license
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
- Minimum 2 years of previous ER experience in a similar volume environment
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and NIHSS certifications required
- Experience using Epic EMR required
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify as a traveler
- COVID-19 vaccination required or approved exemption
