The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department provides high-quality patient care through comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. They are responsible for training and mentoring staff as well as ensuring an exceptional experience for patients and families. The role requires a nursing degree, New York State RN license, BLS certification, and at least six months of nursing experience.

SUMMARY:
The R.N. maintains quality patient care through consistent standards of nursing practice in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. Utilizes the nursing process: assess, diagnosis, plan, implement and evaluate to execute appropriate individual patient care. Responsible for orientation, training/precepting, and mentoring of other staff on the unit. The R.N. is instrumental in providing an exceptional experience for patient and family.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assessment - Perform initial and ongoing assessment of the patient; demonstrate exceptional clinical judgment and advanced assessment skills; communicate and document assessment with interdisciplinary team; utilize all available resources in order to meet the needs of the patient and family.
Planning & Implementation - Develop and document plan of care, treatment and services; collaborate interdisciplinary health team to deliver care; maintains an appropriate nurse-patient relationship and provides an exceptional experience for the patient and family.
Evaluation & Education - Evaluate, communicate and document patient responses to care; revise plan of care based on ongoing evaluations; ensure the patient receives and understands education/training specific to their needs and abilities.
Training - Provide training for new team members on the unit; assume role of teacher for nursing students and other students shadowing on the unit; act as a resource for other team members for both clinical and non-clinical matters.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing required.
Registered Nurse license in New York State.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Minimum of 6 months experience as a registered nurse.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s of Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred
