We are looking for a locum Medical Physicist to join our Oncology team. The position is available starting mid-June on a part-time basis, with an ongoing need for part-time coverage. The call rotation is 1:2 unless it is for vacation coverage, in which case the locum would be the only physicist on call. The EMR system used is Cerner.
Responsibilities:- Provide safe therapeutic radiological physics to the Radiation Oncology Department
- Ensure equipment safety, quality patient care, and teaching in accordance with regulatory standards and medical community guidelines
- Participate in treatment procedures including SRS, SBRT, IMRT, DIBH, gating, SGRT, and 3D Conformal
- Utilize and manage 2 linear accelerators (TomoTherapy Hi-Art and Varian TrueBeam)
- Perform record and verify through Aria, with planning software including Eclipse and Tomoplan
- Conduct patient-specific QA, chart QA, linear accelerator QA, and plan checks
- Provide additional support to radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and therapists as needed
The ideal candidate will have a MS or PhD, be board eligible with intent for certification or board certified by the ABR or ABMP, and must be or become registered in Iowa as a Radiation Therapy Physicist. Skills in calibration and commissioning of linear accelerators and other radiation sources, performing quality assurance of equipment and treatment plans, and implementing new technologies are essential. A strong work ethic and the ability to work well in a team environment are highly valued.
