Overtime Rate: $91.50/hr
Shift: Day Shift | 8:00 AM – 8:30 PM
Schedule: 3 days per week
Hours: 11.5 hours/day (34.5 hours/week)
Position Overview
This is a contract RN – Med/Surg opportunity supporting Correctional Health Services in East Elmhurst, NY. The role focuses on providing direct nursing care in a structured, secure clinical environment. Ideal candidates are confident, experienced Med/Surg nurses who can work independently while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive medical and surgical nursing care to adult patients
- Perform patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and document care accurately
- Administer medications, IV therapy, and perform phlebotomy
- Perform IV insertions and manage IV lines
- Monitor patients receiving conscious sedation
- Respond to changes in patient condition and escalate care as needed
- Maintain compliance with NYS nursing standards and facility protocols
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience
- Minimum 2 years of IV insertion and phlebotomy experience
- Minimum 2 years of conscious sedation experience
- Strong assessment, documentation, and clinical decision-making skills
Licensure & Certifications
- Active New York State RN License
- AHA BLS required
- AHA ACLS required (Queens locations)
- Primary Source Verification (NYS Education Department)
