Job Title: Fork Truck Operator
Location: Whitsett, NC
Pay Rate: $18.50/hour
Shift: Friday – Sunday, 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 a.m. (OT as required)
Position Summary
The Fork Truck Operator is responsible for safely operating electric-powered stand-up forklifts and Order Picker/Cherry Pickers to move, stack, and pick materials within the warehouse. This position plays a key role in maintaining efficient material flow, order accuracy, and a safe working environment.
Primary Responsibilities
Operate electric-powered stand-up forklifts and Order Picker/Cherry Pickers to move or stack materials and pick products.
Stack or place materials safely in designated floor and pallet racking locations.
Supply work areas with materials by removing stock based on pick lists or handheld computer instructions.
Perform all functions of the Material Handler role as needed.
Receive incoming materials, count and verify items against shipping documents (packing lists, bills of lading, etc.).
Record receipts into the warehouse system against purchase orders or advanced ship notices, and report discrepancies to Receiving Technician.
Validate the condition and quantities of returned materials against return authorizations.
Use handheld computers or pick lists to remove materials from stock for order fulfillment.
Load products into designated packages or pallets per order requirements, ensuring counts are accurate and data is captured via barcode scanner and manual entry.
Complete packaging of orders following established packaging guidelines, apply labels, and insert shipping documents.
Perform shipment transactions for outgoing orders, verify counts and packaging integrity, and prepare shipment documents.
Work with carriers to ensure accurate loading, labeling, and documentation.
Demonstrate flexibility with assignments, overtime, and changing business needs.
Perform repetitive tasks or multi-step processes according to established procedures.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Proven experience operating electric-powered stand-up forklifts and Order Picker/Cherry Picker equipment.
Forklift certification required (or ability to obtain).
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform physical tasks throughout the shift.
Strong attention to safety and detail.
Basic computer proficiency and ability to use handheld scanning devices.
Good reading, writing, and math skills to follow instructions and complete documentation.
Demonstrated teamwork, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to identify and address quality issues.
Flexibility to work extended hours or additional duties as assigned.
Experience providing training or guidance to new team members is a plus.
