This position is for a locum Hematology/Oncology physician providing outpatient care exclusively, with a balanced case mix of hematology and oncology patients. The role includes managing clinical procedures such as bone marrow biopsies, VAD/CV catheter care, chemotherapy administration, and participation in tumor boards, with no inpatient responsibilities. Candidates must be board-certified, licensed, and capable of managing adult and geriatric patient populations in an outpatient clinic setting.
Summary:
An outpatient Hematology/Oncology service is seeking a locum physician to support a newly established service line beginning March 2026. This role focuses exclusively on outpatient care with a balanced hematology and oncology case mix.
Schedule & Coverage:
Dates of coverage: March 2026 through March 2027
Outpatient clinic only; no inpatient call or rounding responsibilities
Practice Setting:
Outpatient Hematology/Oncology
Adult and geriatric patient population
Case mix: approximately 50% hematology and 50% oncology
Average outpatient volume: 30 patients per day
EMR: Epic
Clinical Responsibilities & Procedures:
Management of VAD/CV catheters
Bone marrow biopsies
Participation in tumor board
Management of bone marrow transplant patients
Ordering tests and imaging
Blood bank coordination
Prescribing treatments
Chemotherapy administration in collaboration with nursing and oncology staff
Credentialing:
Estimated timeframe: 60 days with an active state license; 90 days without
Requirements & Qualifications:
Board Certified (ABMS or AOA; competency in the alternate pathway required)
Active state medical license or IMLC with LOQ in hand
BLS certification required
