American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position on night shifts, requiring at least 2 years of acute care experience and an active AZ or compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Work on the 3rd Floor Medical/Surgical Telemetry Acute unit in a hospital setting
- Patient population includes CHF, COVID, respiratory, GI, diabetics, telemetry, post-cath, and total joint replacement cases
- Unit has 49 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios at 1:5
- RN interprets telemetry strips and signs at least once per shift
- Equipment includes BiPAP, CPAP, and supports respiratory treatments
- EMR is Cerner; Cerner experience is recommended due to limited orientation
- Work 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) with every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required for major holidays including Christmas, New Year's, and Thanksgiving
- Float requirements to East Campus and possibly PCU if qualified
- No call or standby required
- RNs do not titrate drips but manage set rate drips such as Diltiazem/Cardizem
- There are both charge nurses and house supervisors on the unit
- Nurse aides are available with ratios of 1:10-15
- Self-scheduling is utilized but finalized by the manager to ensure adequate coverage
- Candidates must wear navy blue scrubs as per dress code
- Initial unit orientation consists of one shift
- A sterile technique skills check for Foley and central line dressing occurs on the first day of orientation
- Failure to pass required exams after two attempts results in ineligibility for employment in the region for six months
- Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- At least 2 years of recent acute care experience
- Ability to read basic tele strips with experience in CVA, TIA, and total joint replacement care
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam with a minimum score of 80% within two attempts before contract signing
- Professional references required: one from a supervisor within the past 12 months and one from a peer or supervisor within the past 3 years
- Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility
- Candidates must not have worked (full time, part time, or PRN) at any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility in the past year
