American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a WA or compact RN license, 2 years of LDRP experience, and strong delivery skills.
Responsibilities- Work in a busy Labor & Delivery unit within an acute care hospital
- Unit consists of 34 L&D beds, 2 OR suites for C-sections, 2 triage beds, and 14 postpartum beds
- Care provided for high-risk pregnancies, preeclampsia, diabetes, and psychosocial issues, primarily 33 weeks gestation and above
- Average volume of 150-180 births per month
- Nurse-to-patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines: 1:2 L&D and 1:3-4 couplets
- Epic EMR utilized in the unit
- Required to work 12-hour day shifts with every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
- No floating outside of the department; must also function in postpartum and attend low-risk deliveries
- Responsibilities include managing laboring patients, postpartum care, assisting with C-sections, titrating medications, and supporting family-centered care
- Team support includes a free charge nurse, 24/7 surgical tech, patient care assistant, and in-house OB/GYN, neonatology, and anesthesia
- Orientation includes 8-hour compliance, 8-hour Epic class, and 2-3 unit specific 12-hour shifts
- Scrubs are provided and a locker is available
- Holiday coverage is required and assigned on rotation with permanent staff
- Standby response time is 45 minutes when called
- Open and adaptable attitude toward feedback and workflow changes is expected
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Active WA or compact RN license required at the time of application
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NRP
- Minimum 2 years of recent LDRP experience required; candidates with 1 year may be considered with strong travel background
- Must be comfortable independently attending deliveries, circulating for C-sections, assisting with baby delivery and transitioning newborns
- Experience with titrating drips such as magnesium, Pitocin, and insulin
- Experience utilizing Epic EMR preferred
- Must submit two references: one supervisor from the last 12 months and one supervisor or peer from the last 3 years
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
