We are hiring a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Cardiothoracic Surgeon to provide HOLIDAY COVERAGE in northeastern Virginia. This role includes 24-hour call, clinic support, and inpatient rounding with the assistance of APPs.
Coverage Details:
Dates: December 19, 2025 December 29, 2025
Schedule: 24-hour call (7 AM 7 AM)
Includes hospital rounding: mornings (7 8 AM) and afternoons
Clinic (2 3 afternoons per week) for post-op visits and follow-up care (8 AM 4:30 PM clinic hours, M F)
APP support provided in both hospital and clinic settings
Job Responsibilities:
Perform a wide range of cardiothoracic procedures including:
Coronary artery bypass surgery
Aortic surgery
Valvular repair and replacement
Atrial fibrillation and left atrial appendage management procedures
Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR)
Endovascular aneurysm repair
Provide high-quality pre- and post-operative care in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team
Round with APPs in the hospital and support APP-led clinic visits
Collaborate with advanced practitioners, physicians, and hospital staff to deliver comprehensive cardiothoracic care
Requirements:
MD or DO from an accredited medical school
Completion of accredited general surgery + cardiothoracic residency OR integrated program
Board-Eligible or Board-Certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery
Active Virginia medical license (or licensure eligible)
Current DEA, unrestricted
Proficiency across a wide range of cardiothoracic procedures (CABG, aortic, valvular, atrial fibrillation, minimally invasive techniques)
AHA certifications required
Strong clinical and interpersonal skills with commitment to quality care
EPIC EMR experience preferred

24-hr Flat Rate: $3,000 W2 / $3,
24-hr Holiday Rate: $4,600 W2 / $5,
