Medical Laboratory
Shifts:NIGHT 2100-0730, 4x10 (some weekends and holidays)
Position Purpose:
Under the direction of the Clinical Laboratory Management, the Medical Technologist is accountable for ensuring that appropriate and timely specimen handling, delivery, specimen testing, results reporting, and customer service are provided in an efficient and cost-effective manner in accordance with laboratory and hospital policies and procedures. The Medical Technologist is also responsible for ensuring that all laboratory procedures being performed in areas of responsibility will comply with all regulatory, accrediting, and licensure requirements.
Humboldt General Hospital Laboratory is a 24-hour/7-days a week operation, providing laboratory services to both inpatient and outpatient populations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Microbiology: includes the subspecialties of Bacteriology, Mycobacteriology, Virology, and Parasitology.
- Core Laboratory 1: includes General and Special Chemistry, Blood gases, Immunology, and Serology, and knowledge of manual and automation lines.
- Core Laboratory 2: includes Hematology, Coagulation, Special Coagulation, and Urinalysis.
- Transfusion Services (Blood Bank): includes Blood Transfusion medicine, and Blood Utilization and Waste.
- Phlebotomist: Venipuncture and skin puncture. Specimen preparation for reference laboratories.
Knowledge and Education:
Experience
- LIS: Experience with CERNER Laboratory Information System is favorable
- Preferred, 5 years of experience working as a Laboratory Technologist at a Critical Access Hospital
Education
- Requires a bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, or a closely related field according to current applicable state and federal regulations.
License
- A current State of Nevada Clinical Laboratory Technologist license as a General Supervisor is required.
