Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring an OR RN license and telemetry experience.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) stepdown unit within an acute care hospital setting
- Patient population includes cardiac, post cath/pacer, pneumonia, COVID, ETOH, and ICU downgrades, but no open heart cases
- 12-hour night shifts with scheduling on a 24/48 hour pattern
- Weekend and holiday shifts are required, typically every other weekend based on unit needs
- Patient ratios range from 8-9 with nurse aids present on the unit
- Telemetry monitoring is utilized with remote tele support and monitor techs available
- Required to titrate and manage insulin, heparin, cardizem, nitro, amiodarone, dopamine, and dobutamine drips
- Epic EMR is used for charting
- Charge nurse is present on the unit and takes a lower patient ratio when able
- Hospital supervisor available 24/7 for support
- No mandatory floating unless skill set allows and mutually agreed upon
- Clean and professional attire required; no specific scrub color mandated
- Unit-specific orientation provided with 1-2 shifts depending on previous experience
- No on-call or standby requirements
Requirements
- Active OR RN license required
- Minimum of 2 years of RN experience
- Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Experience with telemetry and basic rhythm interpretation required
- Cardiac drip titration experience required
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and flexible 24/48 hour scheduling
