Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN with at least one year of experience, BLS, CPI, and NIHSS certifications for night shifts on an adult-geriatric unit.

Responsibilities

• Position in the Medical Surgical unit serving adults and geriatric patients
• Night shift schedule: 3x12 hour shifts, 19:00 to 07:00
• Average patient census of 16 with a 1:8 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Team nursing model with support from LPNs/Paramedics and PCTs
• Primary patient cases include chest pain, CHF, ESRD, anemia, and abdominal pain
• Use of Epic for EMR, Pyxis for medication management, and SBAR for communication
• Floating within the facility may be required
• No on-call responsibilities
• RNs are responsible for patient assessments and oversight, medication administration, and collaborating with support staff
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Holiday coverage is required; assignment of holidays is based on the number that fall within contract dates
• First-time travelers are accepted
• No blocked scheduling allowed
• Locals accepted at the same rate
• Travel pairs cannot be assigned to the same shift on the same unit
• Full compliance required for timely start; delays may occur if compliance is incomplete

Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license
• Minimum one year of recent Med/Surg nursing experience
• Current BLS, CPI, and NIHSS certifications required
• Experience with adult to geriatric medical/surgical patient populations
• Familiarity with Epic and Pyxis preferred
• Maximum of 7 days RTO, none permitted during the first week of assignment
• Must be away from all Piedmont facilities for at least one year to be eligible if a former perm/PRN employee
• If previously unable to return to a Piedmont facility, must have completed a successful assignment elsewhere
