American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown/Progressive Care position requiring a MO or compact license, ACLS/BLS certification, and proficiency in cardiac drips and dysrhythmia management.
Responsibilities- Work in a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma, teaching hospital's dual PCU/Stepdown and floor units
- Nurse-to-patient ratios are 2-3:1 in PCU/Stepdown and typically 4:1 on the floor, occasionally up to 5:1
- All nurses may be assigned to either the PCU/Stepdown or floor sides as needed
- Manages telemetry monitoring, cardiac drips, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and chest tubes
- EPIC is used for charting
- Night shifts are 3x12 hours, 19:00 – 07:30
- Weekend shifts required every other weekend
- Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
- No on-call responsibility
- Main duties include providing advanced nursing care for stepdown and PCU level patients, including cardiac monitoring and intervention
- Works alongside an interdisciplinary, team-based environment within a large Level I trauma center
- Navy blue scrubs are required
- Paid orientation will cover hospital modules and procedures
- Permanent former employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Traveler assignments can last up to 18 months with a mandatory 3-month break after 18 months
- Night shift parking is free; alternate shifts require paid parking passes with details provided at orientation
- Active MO or compact RN license is required
- 2 years of RN experience in stepdown or related setting required
- Certifications required: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Experience in cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation, management and titration of cardiac drips, and chest tube care required
- EPIC charting system experience preferred
- Must reside at least 75 miles from facility as local candidates are not accepted
- No more than 7 days of time off requested per 13 week contract, with no time off during the first week of orientation
- First-time travelers are accepted
