Takes X-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety, which involves setting up and operating radiographic equipment used in the medical diagnosis and/or treatment of patients. Maintains medical imaging records in appropriate system and according to department policies.
- Focus Area: Orthopedics and general X-ray (no chest or head imaging).
- Procedures: Orbits and general ortho care; training provided for specific tasks.
- Responsibilities:
- Perform X-rays and imaging for orthopedic patients.
- Daily tasks include scheduling checks, ensuring imaging readiness, paperwork, phone calls, patient prep, and order entry.
- Assist with patient lifting (aids available).
- Environment: Outpatient orthopedic clinic with in-house tools.
Schedule
- Hours: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM (rotating early start between 7:30–8:00).
- Lunch: 12:00–1:00 PM.
- Staffing: Currently 4 techs; 2 on maternity leave soon. When traveler is present, 3 full-time techs (MWF).
- Walk-ins: Techs stay until provider releases them.
Requirements
- Licensing:
- CRT – Wisconsin license required.
- Must hold a full license (not limited).
- Experience:
- No new grads.
- Solid foundational skills; some training provided.
- Orthopedic experience preferred (1+ year outpatient/orthopedic ideal).
- Physical: Ability to assist with patient transfers and wheelchair support.
