Primary responsibilities include providing 1:2 midwife backup support, responding to OB/GYN emergency consultations, and managing labor and delivery cases when midwife capabilities are exceeded. The position requires continuous on-site availability during assigned call shifts with solo practice primarily, though extended contracts greater than one week allow for midwife primary call with locum providing backup support. Board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology is required along with prescriptive authority for comprehensive patient management.
