American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit with telemetry and neuro experience, weekend flexibility, and strong clinical skills.
Responsibilities- Work in a hospital Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with neurological and medical surgical patient populations
- Common cases include CVAs, hydrocephalus, brain tumors, TBI, seizures, GI surgeries, trauma patients, and large wound care
- Staffing ratios are typically 1:3-4, only rarely increasing to 1:5 during emergencies
- Float to different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) as needed within the hospital and affiliated hospitals
- Day shift schedule of 3x12 hour shifts, 7:00 to 19:30
- Must be flexible to work 50% of weekends based on unit needs
- Cerner EMR charting is required
- May be assigned student nurses to shadow or for precepting during assignment
- Charge nurse responsibilities may be required based on operational need with training provided
- Must be willing to float as required; refusal to float can result in termination
- Travelers are expected to work 2 out of 3 major holidays during assignment
- Return applicants must have been separated from prior employment at this health system for at least 12 months
- Local candidates are not accepted for this position
- Up to 5 days of requested time off (RTO) can be auto-approved
- First time travelers are welcome to apply
- Active IN or Compact RN license in hand prior to start date
- Minimum of 18 months to 2 years of recent PCU experience required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BCLS, and NIHSS (AHA & RQI accepted, must be current)
- Proficient in telemetry, neuro, and drip management
- Ability to precept or be assigned students to shadow as part of a teaching facility
- Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- First time travelers are accepted for this position
- Conscious sedation and Level 1 trauma experience preferred
- Must provide application, skills checklist, 2 references, State Board of Nursing License Verification, NURSYS verification, and copies of certifications for consideration
