PCU Nursing Job Details- Location: Indianapolis, IN 46202 (Indiana nursing jobs)

- Unit: Surgical Progressive Care Unit (SPCU)

- End Date: April 6, 2026
- Duration: 13-week travel nursing contract
- Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts (07:00 - 19:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required
- Orientation: 48 hours
- Patient Population: Adult patients
- Staffing Ratios: 1:3-4
- Floating: Required to Med-Surg, PCU, ICU within University and Methodist Hospitals
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Indiana or compact state)
- Minimum 18 months of recent PCU or ICU nursing experience
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications
- Proficient in cardiac monitoring, chest tubes, tracheostomy care, feeding tubes, post-op care, epidurals, non-titratable cardiac drips, IV insulin protocols, BiPAP/CPAP, total laryngectomy, and Doppler flap checks
- Ability to float to different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU)
- Preferred: Previous charge nurse experience and trauma level I experience
- Preferred: Experience with Cerner charting system
- Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Two supervisor references required
- Comfortable precepting and/or being assigned students to shadow
- Out-of-state travel nurses only (locals not accepted)
- Provide high-quality nursing care to adult patients in a Surgical Progressive Care Unit with near-ICU acuity
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms; manage post-surgical patients (ENT, thoracic, general surgery, urology, medical overflow)
- Perform advanced nursing procedures: arterial/central line care, chest tubes, surgical drains, tracheostomy and laryngectomy care, enteral feedings, and wound care
- Administer medications, IV insulin protocols, and non-titratable cardiac drips
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, rapid response)
- Float to other units as needed and adapt to diverse patient care needs
- Provide charge nurse coverage and precept nursing students
- Maintain accurate documentation and uphold patient safety standards
