Job Description

American Traveler seeks a skilled RN with at least 1.5 years PICU experience, holding a NM or compact license, for a pediatric intensive care contract.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Pediatric ICU of a Level I Trauma and Children's Teaching Hospital
• Care for pediatric patients with diagnoses such as respiratory failure, renal failure, trauma, CRRT, ECMO, heme/onc, multi-system organ failure, and suicide attempts
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2
• Required to work rotating 12-hour shifts including days and nights; must be available for either shift during the contract
• Expected to work 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts per week
• Required to work 4 weekend shifts per schedule for days and 4-5 for nights
• Floating required to NICU and as a resource in the Peds ED (no primary assignment)
• No on-call responsibilities
• Cerner EMR system used
• Perform advanced pediatric critical care, including support with CRRT, ECMO, and vents
• Work as part of an interdisciplinary care team in a busy teaching hospital environment
• Black scrubs required (not provided)
• Drug screening and compliance modules must be completed prior to start
• No RQI certifications accepted
• Religious or medical exemption form required for COVID-19 vaccine exceptions
• Time off requests over 7 days require approval; only one holiday bundle may be requested
• Perm employees may return as travelers if separated from system for at least 12 months
• Free parking provided

Requirements

• Active NM or compact RN license (pending license accepted at time of consideration)
• Current BLS and PALS certifications required
• Minimum of 1.5 years recent PICU RN experience
• Experience with CRRT, ECMO, ventilators, and inotropic drips required
• COVID-19 vaccination required or approved exemption
• Must not reside within 75 miles of the facility
• First-time travelers accepted
