Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position working night shifts with adult and geriatric patients and every other weekend requirements.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Med/Surg Telemetry unit of a hospital setting
- Adult and geriatric patient population with common diagnoses including CHF, chest pain, cellulitis, osteomyelitis, pancreatitis, post-amputation care, small bowel obstruction, atrial fibrillation and dysrhythmias, cancer, and palliative care
- Patient ratio is typically 1:5
- Perform EKGs and manage drips such as Cardizem, amiodarone, heparin, dopamine, dobutamine, and Lasix, which are not titratable but maintained within set parameters
- Utilizes telemetry monitoring, monitor techs, IV pumps, oxygen, pulse oximetry, vital signs machines, SCDs, bed and chair alarms, chest tubes, and Foley catheters
- Night shifts (4x12 hours, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) are standard
- Required to work every other weekend and scheduled holidays
- Floating is required within the specialty and to lower acuity units as needed
- No on-call responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adults and geriatric patients with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions
- Collaborate with monitor techs and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
- First-time travelers are accepted for this position
- Holiday coverage is required as scheduled
Requirements
- Active MD or Compact RN license
- Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and CPI
- Minimum of 2 years of recent MS/Tele RN experience
- Experience with telemetry monitoring and the use of related medical equipment
