The Histotechnician performs specialized histology and immunohistochemistry staining procedures to prepare surgical tissue specimens for microscopic examination in a medical laboratory setting. The role involves operating advanced staining instruments, maintaining quality control, and adhering to laboratory safety protocols. Candidates require an associate degree in a relevant science field and preferred certifications, with experience in high-volume laboratories and immunohistochemistry procedures.

We are seeking Histology Professionals to join the Labcorp team where we are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical laboratory services. **Pay Range: $25.00 - $39.00 per hour
All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 12:00am - 8:30am
Shift: 3rd, this position is eligible for a shift differential

This position will be performing special stains, IHC stains, and will be using the Ventana Ultra and Benchmark special staining instrumentation. Includes checking 4 systems for IHC orders, pulling control slides, cutting patient tissue, loading and unloading slides, QC of controls slide distribution, making up antibodies, reagents and filling instruments.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform IHC and special stains within Histology department
- Process human tissue and body fluid specimens in preparation for microscopic exam
- Perform technical duties related to the production of histopathological slides of surgical specimens
- Section the embedded tissue, using a microtome and mount the section properly on a microscope slide
- Perform various immunohistochemical tests on formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue sections
- Process mounted sections through routine and special staining procedures
- Properly orient and embed surgical tissue specimens
- Prepare the stains and reagents needed for special procedures
- Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
- Operate and maintain manual and automated instruments
- Perform and document equipment maintenance as needed
- Record equipment log data in an accurate and timely manner
- Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
- Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies
- Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, analysis and reporting
- Document problems that may affect test performance and perform corrective actions as needed
Requirements:
- Associate's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements
- Histology and ASCP certifications are preferred
- Prior Immunohistochemistry experience is highly preferred
- Experience with routine histology procedures and equipment
- Comfortability embedding both large and small specimens
- Ability to accurately read all labels and documents
- Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
- Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment is desirable
- Familiarity with laboratory SOPs and safety protocol
- Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
