American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications, and EPIC charting experience.
Responsibilities- Work in a general medicine PCU unit with a hybrid configuration including 10 PCU beds and 2 ICU beds
- Primary patient population includes chronic trach/vent patients, DKA, COPD, sepsis, suicide/overdose, respiratory and renal failure
- Patient ratios typically 1:5, with the goal of 1:4
- 3x12 hour night shifts from 6:45pm to 7:15am; 4x12s may be available upon request
- Uses EPIC charting system; prior EPIC experience required
- Weekend requirement may be every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule block
- Must work at least one holiday per 13-week contract, with no Christmas RTO approved
- Floating required within skillset to DOU, IMC, and stepdown units
- Care for a diverse patient population with both acute and chronic conditions
- Remote telemetry and tele-sitting implemented for increased Patient Care Tech support
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Must provide all RTO requests with submission; Christmas off requests are not approved
- Holiday coverage is required
- Locals are accepted and subject to the radius rule
- Two professional references needed for consideration
- Active VA or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only if from a non-compact state
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Clinical skills required include cardiac monitoring, emergency response, dysrhythmia management, IV therapy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
- Experience with medication administration including cardiac drips (no titration), respiratory support, trach and ventilator care, and isolation precautions
- Ability to activate Rapid Response and Code teams
- EPIC charting experience required
