Position Type: Locum or Contract Night Shifts
We are actively seeking an experienced Neurosurgery Nurse Practitioner to support overnight coverage in a fast-paced, hospital-based setting. This role is ideal for an NP with a strong background in neurosurgical care, trauma response, and surgical first assist experience.
Schedule:
- Night Shifts: 6:00 PM 6:00 AM (12-hour shifts)
- On-Site Call Required: Provider must remain on site to respond to emergent cases
- Up to 20 shifts per month available
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide in-house neurosurgical support and respond to emergency consults
- First assist in surgeries when needed (NP First Assist preferred)
- Manage inpatient and ICU neurosurgical patients alongside the surgical team
- Support admissions, coordinate care, and ensure continuity for trauma and critical cases
- Supervise or support care on days when physician coverage is limited
- Collaborate with hospital staff, radiology, and ICU teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes

- Tools & Systems: EPIC EMR; lab & imaging on-site
Preferred Clinical Experience:
- General Neurosurgery Adult & Trauma
- Cerebrovascular procedures (Open & Endovascular)
- Carotid or vertebral artery surgery, aneurysm clipping
- Spinal surgery with and without instrumentation
- ICP monitor placement
- Previous in-house night shift experience strongly preferred
Requirements:
- Board Certified Nurse Practitioner Required
- Active CO license or Compact License Required
- Proven experience in neurosurgery and hospital-based acute care
- Confident working independently overnight and managing emergent cases on-site
