TRC’s Client, a long standing leader in the construction industry based in Gwinnett County, is experiencing major growth and has created a newly established Director of Accounting & Finance role.
The Director of Accounting & Finance serves as a hands-on operational leader responsible for overseeing the company’s accounting, financial reporting, and analytical functions. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role ensures accurate financial data, strong internal controls, and effective financial planning to support operational and strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate brings deep construction accounting expertise and a collaborative leadership style to drive process improvement across the organization.

Roles and Responsibilities
• Oversee all accounting activities, including general ledger management, job cost accounting, WIP reporting, and month-end close, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal control standards.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes across business units and departments.
• Develop, maintain, and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Partner with the CFO and external firms to coordinate audits, banking requirements, and financial compliance activities.
• Manage tax compliance across federal, state, and local jurisdictions (income, sales and use, property, and payroll), working with external advisors as needed.
• Collaborate closely with operations and project management teams to analyze job profitability, backlog, and key cost drivers.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, promoting consistency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Prepare and present financial analysis and insights to the CFO and senior leadership to support strategic initiatives such as capital investments, acquisitions, and joint ventures.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA or MBA strongly preferred.
• 10–15+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance leadership roles.
• Prior experience in construction accounting strongly preferred; Big Four public accounting background a plus.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, job costing, WIP reporting, and consolidated financial statements.
• Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., Viewpoint Vista) and advanced Excel and/or BI tools.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and partner effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Solid understanding of financial controls, inventory accounting, and operational finance within project-based or manufacturing environments.
