Position Overview
Bone Drs Orthopedic Care, a leading orthopedic practice, is expanding to include a Sports & Functional Medicine division focused on metabolic health, performance optimization, and non-operative musculoskeletal care. We are seeking a board-certified physician with training in Sports Medicine and experience or strong interest in functional, metabolic, and hormone-based care to help develop and lead this service line.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and manage active adults and athletes with non-operative musculoskeletal conditions
- Provide sports medicine–based care including injury prevention, exercise prescription, and return-to-activity planning
- Lead medical weight loss programs, including GLP-1 and body recomposition strategies
- Diagnose and manage male hypogonadism and hormone optimization (e.g., testosterone therapy)
- Develop and oversee nutrition and supplement protocols grounded in evidence-based practice
- Interpret advanced metabolic, hormonal, and performance-related laboratory testing
- Address lifestyle contributors including sleep, stress, recovery, and training load
- Collaborate closely with orthopedic surgeons to optimize pre- and post-operative outcomes
- Refer surgical cases appropriately within the orthopedic practice
Program Development
- Help build and refine standardized clinical protocols for:
- Weight loss and metabolic health
- Hormone optimization
- Performance and longevity care
- Participate in shaping the brand and clinical identity of the Sports & Functional Medicine division
- Assist in supervising or collaborating with advanced practice providers (NPs/PAs), dietitians, or health coaches as the program scales
Qualifications
Required
- MD or DO
- Board-certified in:
- Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship
- Active, unrestricted medical license (or ability to obtain)
- Comfortable practicing in a self-pay / cash-based clinical model
- Strong communication skills and patient-centered approach
Preferred
- Additional training or certification in one or more of the following:
- Functional Medicine (e.g., IFM or equivalent)
- Obesity Medicine (ABOM or equivalent experience)
- Hormone replacement therapy
- Lifestyle or longevity medicine
- Prior experience in:
- Sports medicine clinics
- Concierge or direct primary care
- Performance, wellness, or optimization-focused practices
- Interest in building and growing a service line within a larger orthopedic organization
