Position Details

• Specialty: General Surgeon with a focus on Breast Oncology or Fellowship-Trained Breast Surgeon.
• Start Date: February 1, 2025.
• Schedule:
  • Monday through Friday (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM) in the clinic.
  • Operating Room schedule dependent on block availability.
  • Beeper call after clinic hours, including potential 24-hour weekend call. Call volumes are low, with approximately one call per day.
• Patient Load: 12-15 patients per shift.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform oncology-focused breast surgeries, including:
  • Mastectomies (nipple-sparing included).
  • Lumpectomies.
  • Sentinel node biopsies and axillary dissections.
  • Participation in joint oncoplastic surgeries.
• Manage high-risk and benign breast conditions as well as survivorship care.

Qualifications

• Licensure: Must hold a valid California medical license.
• Experience: Minimum of 100 breast surgeries performed within the last two years (case logs required).
• Certification: Board Certification in General Surgery is required.
• Skills: Proficient in handling oncology-focused procedures; no requirement for cosmetic breast surgeries (e.g., reductions or augmentations).

• Credentialing timeframe: Approximately 60-90 days.
• No supervision of advanced practice providers or teaching responsibilities required.
