American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring Epic experience, NIHSS certification, and the ability to float to other adult critical care units.
Responsibilities- Position is in a 29-bed Neuro ICU within a Level 1 Trauma, teaching hospital
- Cares for neurological and trauma patient populations including ischemic/hemorrhagic strokes, TBI, seizures, spinal cord injuries, and post-op cranial surgery cases
- Typical patient ratio is 1:2, with occasional 1:3 if patients are downgraded
- Shift is night, 1845-0715, 36-hour options, with every other weekend (Fri/Sat/Sun) required
- No on-call required
- Float required to adult critical care units (MICU, STICU, Dixon Heart, CTICU) and PCU (max 1:3 ratio)
- Patients may require advanced monitoring and interventions including EVDs/ICP monitoring, CRRT, and vasoactive drips
- Uses Epic EMR (experience required), Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell, and Philips monitors
- Daily duties include neurologic assessment, advanced monitoring, management of critical drips, and close care coordination with a multidisciplinary team
- Department support includes a supervisor, charge nurse, stroke response nurse, clinical educator, intensivists, 24/7 RT, pharmacy, PT/OT/ST, and case management
- Orientation includes hospital NEO and two days of unit-based, skill-dependent training
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays and every other weekend
- Navy blue scrubs required

- Manager approval required for RTO
- Active NC or compact state RN license
- Minimum 2 years recent experience in Adult ICU and completion of at least one 13-week travel assignment
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Proficiency with Epic EMR and management of neuro/critical care equipment such as EVD, ICP monitoring, ventilators, and CRRT
- Must meet physical demands required for bedside neuro ICU care
