American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 3N Cardiac Telemetry position on night shifts, requiring a WV or compact RN license and strong arrhythmia skills.
Responsibilities- Work in an acute care hospital on a 43-bed Cardiac Telemetry unit
- Care for patients post-heart caths, with TR bands, CHF, COPD, arrhythmias, and post-pacers
- Average nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5, flexing up to 1:6
- Patients include those awaiting medical management or CABG consult
- 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required for travelers
- Self-scheduling available and block scheduling considered per unit needs
- Travelers participate in unit-based float rotation and may be assigned to ICU or Stepdown within skillset
- Epic EMR system is used in this unit
- Monitor techs are available, but RNs must be able to read strips
- RNs are responsible for their own admissions and discharges, with strong team support available
- Fast-paced environment with frequent patient admissions and discharges
- Travelers are welcome to step into charge roles if comfortable
- Dressing in royal blue scrubs is required; only scrub jackets permitted
- Float assignment may occur throughout the hospital, but patient assignments will match RN skillset
- Unit orientation includes one day of computer training and one day on the floor with a preceptor
- Teamwork is a core value, and new grads are supported on this unit
- Weekend and holiday coverage may be expected based on staffing needs
- No local travelers accepted; candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility
- Returning employees must have a minimum two-year break from any WVU Medicine location before reapplying
- Active WV or compact state RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of recent Cardiac Telemetry or related experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA)
- Proficiency in reading telemetry strips and comfortable managing arrhythmias
- Experience titrating Heparin drips is required
- Ability to perform EKGs when needed
- Fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or approved exemption is required
- Unexpired driver’s license required for consideration
