Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position requiring a CT or compact RN license and proficiency in pediatric cardiac critical care.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) of a large acute care hospital
• Level I Trauma Center providing care for critically ill pediatric patients
• Average patient ratio is 1:2
• Day shifts (3x12 hours), 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Weekend shifts required every other weekend
• Must float to other pediatric units as needed, including Pediatric ED, NNICU, inpatient pediatric units, and psych units
• Utilizes the Epic electronic medical record system
• Care for critically ill pediatric patients and manage complex cardiac cases
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary pediatric care teams
• Expected to float outside the PICU and take patient assignments as needed
• Brief unit orientation available when floating to other pediatric units
• First-time travelers are welcome
• Request for time off greater than 7 days requires approval
• Only one active submission per candidate in the health system is allowed
• Parking fee applies

Requirements

• Active CT or compact RN license (or eligibility to obtain)
• Minimum 3 years of PICU experience required
• Certifications required: BLS and PALS
• Experience in pediatric cardiac critical care required
• CRRT and ECMO certification preferred
• Experience in Level I trauma center at a large facility required
• Pending licenses are accepted for consideration
• Flu vaccine required without exception
• COVID-19 vaccine and booster required; religious or medical exemptions considered
• Must not have previous issues on nursing license
• Former permanent staff must be separated at least 2 years before reapplying as a traveler
• Must live at least 75 miles from facility for travel consideration
