American Traveler is seeking an Occupational Therapist with at least 1 year of recent acute care experience for an inpatient rehab assignment at a Level II trauma center.
Responsibilities- Work in an acute care hospital inpatient rehabilitation setting
- Assigned to Occupational Therapy Inpatient Rehab unit
- Shift is five 8-hour day shifts, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
- Caseload typically ranges from 50 to 60 patients
- Required to float within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals as needed
- Scheduled to work one weekend per month
- Cerner EMR system is used and experience is required
- Level II Trauma facility with 372 staffed beds
- Responsible for assessment, patient discharge planning, evaluation, and reassessment
- Expected to educate patients and families, recommend adaptive equipment, and support safety initiatives
- Work in a collaborative rehab team environment
- Dark grey scrubs or professional dress code required
- Must have an active Illinois license at submission
- Up to 5 days of non-holiday requested time off may be considered; more requires facility approval
- Must be willing to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- First-time travelers are welcome
- Local candidates accepted with no radius restrictions
- Former permanent or PRN employees must have a 12-month separation before applying as a traveler
- Parking permit provided at no cost; will complete form during orientation
- Current BLS certification required
- NBCOT certification required
- Active Illinois OT license required at time of start
- Minimum 1 year of acute care Occupational Therapy experience
- Experience with adaptive equipment and pre-discharge planning
- Ability to provide patient and family education, safety/injury prevention, and appropriate documentation including assessments and plans of care
- Physical ability for patient lifting and transfers
- Basic computer and telephone communication skills
- License required if applicable
