Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (Locum Tenens). The
Nurse Anesthetist will provide services to beneficiaries of the Indian Health Service at the Northern Navajo Medical Center (NNMC) in Shiprock, New Mexico. The
Nurse Anesthetist shall deliver quality care to attain positive health outcomes for all our valued patients with emphasis on cultural sensitivity and human dignity.

ResponsibilitiesPosition details:
- 1099, regular rate $240-250/hour, call rate $45/hour
- Full time, Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm
- On-call: Weekdays and weekends
- Chenega covers medical malpractice insurance
- 2 openings:
- 1 - available to start ASAP
- 1 - available to start December 9, 2025
Responsibilities:
- Provide anesthetic care for patients at the Indian Health Service, Northern Navajo Medical Center, Shiprock, New Mexico.
- Provide anesthetic services for the operating room surgical cases patients and in other situations if the need arises. Such cases may include but are not limited to emergencies or procedures in places and may take place in any area of the facility.
- Consult with members of the surgical and anesthesia staff on matters of patient care.
- Insure that patients are receiving the proper anesthetic care.
- Review clinical records and adhere to records documentation procedures to ensure that records are properly maintained.
- Work will be performed under the administrative supervision of the Chief of Anesthesia or his designee. The Nurse Anesthetist provision of anesthetic care will be monitored by the Northern Navajo Medical Center's quality assurance plan.
- Shall have access to the internet to use the Electronic Health Record. All documentation on patients shall be completed prior to the Nurse Anesthetist's shift ending. Delinquent charts shall be completed prior to the Nurse Anesthetist's completion of his/her contract at Northern Navajo Medical Center.
- May be subject to technical direction and/or guidance of the designated Government official.
Qualifications- Be a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist and have a minimum of 52 weeks of experience in that role.
- Possess a current, valid, unrestricted license in any state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth
of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States, throughout the term of this contract. - Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) is mandatory.
- Must be eligible for ICU and diagnostic lumbar puncture credentialling by IHS.
