American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN for evening shifts at a community hospital, requiring a MO or compact RN license and strong pediatric and critical care emergency skills.
Responsibilities- Position is in the Emergency Department of a community hospital with 240 staffed beds and 32 ED rooms
- Combined adult and pediatric patient population, including STEMI and Stroke Certified care
- Typical patient ratio is 1:4
- Requires evening shifts (3x12 hours, 14:45-03:15)
- Every third weekend or at least 8 weekend shifts per 6-week period required
- Regular floating between SLHS Metro EDs and departments may be required
- Uses Epic EMR; experience is required
- No on-call required
- Provide emergency nursing care for a broad patient mix including adults, pediatrics, and behavioral health patients
- Responsibilities include triage, critical care interventions, medication administration, phlebotomy, cardiac monitoring, and emergency response
- Must be able to manage high-acuity cases including trauma, STEMI, stroke, and multisystem organ dysfunction
- Required to participate in holiday shifts and may be assigned as Charge RN if necessary
- Dress code is navy scrubs
- Pre-employment drug screening required; diluted or positive results may result in ineligibility
- No more than 7 days of requested time off will be accommodated
- Compliance modules (5-8 hours) must be completed pre-start and annually
- Active MO or compact RN license required at time of application
- Minimum of 2 years of recent emergency department RN experience required
- At least 1 full year in ED specialty within the past 12 months with no employment gap over 90 days
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS
- Proven competencies in pediatric emergencies, psychiatric emergencies, advanced airway and respiratory management, IV therapy, cardiac monitoring, and neurological assessment
- Ability to float to all emergency departments within SLHS Metro system is required
- Two professional references within the past year (one supervisor-level or above)
- Pending licenses not accepted
- Candidates must have a home address at least 75 miles from the facility; locals not accepted
- First-time travelers are not accepted
