Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position requiring cardiac and neuro experience, night shifts, and SC or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Surgical ICU (SICU) of a hospital setting
- Patient population includes complex surgical, cardiac, and neuro cases
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2
- Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
- Required to work every other weekend and participate in holiday rotations
- Float to similar units as needed, in line with staff expectations
- Uses Epic EMR system
- Royal blue scrubs required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Perform specialized nursing care for post-surgical, cardiac, and neuro patients in a critical care setting
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans
- Complete facility-required modules pre-start (average 4 hours)
- Free parking is available on site
- All requested time off must be submitted at the time of application and is subject to facility approval
- Travelers must be available to participate in emergency response during hurricane season (June to November)
- Return to the facility as a traveler is only permitted after a 1-year separation for previous staff
Requirements
- Active SC or compact RN license in hand prior to start
- Minimum 1 year of recent SICU experience, with 2 years preferred
- Current AHA certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Demonstrated experience caring for cardiac and neuro patients
- Epic charting experience preferred
- No current or recent (within 1 year) permanent or PRN employment at the facility
- Not accepting first-time travelers
- Must not reside within 60 miles of the facility
