Job Description
American Traveler is seeking a skilled RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring 18 months of recent experience and competency in telemetry and cardiac care.
Responsibilities
- Work in a medical and cardiac PCU within a short-term acute care hospital
- Patient population includes cardiac stepdown and post-heart catheterization cases
- Responsibilities include telemetry monitoring, management of cardiac and vasoactive drips, BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, IV starts, and crisis response
- Experience with ventilators, charge nurse duties, and conscious sedation is preferred
- Cerner EMR is used and prior experience is required
- Night shifts, working 3x12 hours from 18:00 to 6:30
- Weekend shifts are required
- No on-call required
- Floating within scope is required, including potential float to affiliate hospitals
- Local candidates are not accepted for PCU roles
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Teamwork in a true ICU stepdown environment with responsibilities for crisis response
- Red scrub tops and black bottoms are required
- Free parking is provided
- Must work at least 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Requested time off of up to 5 days can be auto-approved
- Former permanent or PRN employees must be separated from employment for 12 months before being considered as a traveler
Requirements
- Active IN or compact RN license, or temporary license, must be in hand prior to start
- Minimum of 18 months of recent PCU or stepdown RN experience
- AHA or RQI certifications required: BLS and ACLS (NIHSS preferred)
- Graduation from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program required
- Experience with telemetry, IV starts, cardiac and vasoactive drips, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen required
