The Medical Director Physician serves as the Residency Program Director, leading the Family Medicine Residency Program and regional Department of Family Medicine across multiple teaching sites. This role involves strategic leadership, overseeing program administration, resident education, and ensuring compliance with ACGME accreditation requirements. The position also includes clinical care, mentorship, and collaboration to advance the educational and academic mission of Family Medicine.
We are seeking a visionaryand accomplished physician leader to serve as Residency Program Director inSoutheastern West Virginia. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead andshape the clinical, educational, and academic mission of Family Medicine whilefostering excellence in graduate medical education and patient-centered careacross multiple teaching sites.
The Regional Chair andResidency Program Director is responsible for the overall leadership,administration, and success of the Family Medicine Residency Program and theregional Department of Family Medicine.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Family Medicine Residency Program and regional Department of Family Medicine.
- Oversee program administration, operations, and full compliance with ACGME accreditation requirements.
- Lead resident recruitment, selection, supervision, evaluation, promotion, and disciplinary processes.
- Ensure high-quality education within the context of patient care and maintain an effective, inclusive learning environment across all teaching sites.
- Supervise and assess residents and faculty, supporting competency-based education and continuous improvement.
- Promote and participate in scholarly activity and academic development for residents and faculty.
- Serve as the primary liaison to the GMEC, DIO, and ACGME Family Medicine Review Committee.
- Provide comprehensive Family Medicine clinical care and actively teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows as applicable.
- Collaborate with institutional and interdisciplinary leadership to advance the clinical, educational, and academic mission of Family Medicine.
Qualifications:
- MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent).
- Completion of an accredited Family Medicine residency program.
- Eligible for or able to obtain an unrestricted medical license in the State of West Virginia.
- Demonstrated commitment to medical education, leadership, and scholarly activity.
- Prior experience in graduate medical education leadership preferred (e.g., Associate Program Director, Program Director, or similar roles).
