This position is for a Primary Care Physician providing outpatient and urgent care services at the Mescalero Indian Hospital in New Mexico. The physician will deliver comprehensive medical care including pediatric, geriatric, and emergency services, as well as manage COVID-19 testing and vaccination efforts. The role requires medical evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, documentation, and collaboration with hospital staff and external agencies while adhering to healthcare regulations and quality standards.

They were experts in guerrilla warfare and highly skilled horsemen. The women were known for their ability to find and prepare food from many different plant sources. The people were given the name "Mescalero " because they gathered and ate the mescal plant. It was the staple of their diets and could sustain them in good times and bad. Today, three sub-tribes, Mescalero, Lipan and Chiricahua, make up the Mescalero Apache Tribe. We live on this reservation of 463,000 acres of what once was the heartland of our people's aboriginal homelands. Explore the Mescalero Apache The Facility -Mescalero Service Unit Indian Health Service - Mescalero Service Unit. The 13-bed Mescalero Indian Hospital provides both inpatient and outpatient services, supplemented by a number of field health programs, some of which are conducted by the Mescalero Tribe itself. Inpatient care generally consists of pediatric and medical care. Patients requiring surgical, orthopedic and other specialized services are referred to contract hospitals in the area, with follow-up care provided at the Mescalero Hospital where needed. The hospital has a very active outpatient department with several specialty clinics i.e.,diabetic, well baby, and prenatal. Support services are provided by on-site laboratory and radiology departments. The Field Health Program supports health and safety standards within the community through field visits, surveys, clinics, environmental health services and sanitary facilities construction projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (included but not limited to): Physician shall provide Urgent Care and Outpatient Medical Evaluation and Treatment as outlined below: Participate directly in the medical care of the patients, performing functions to the extent delineated by the medical staff privileging process. Adhere to the scope of work and accept work assignment from the Clinical Director as necessary. Provide direct care/services to pediatric, geriatric, adolescent and adult patients. Such services may focus on specific age population such as child and adolescent health and life span issues such as reproductive and women's health and acuity of care such as urgent care and emergent care. Provide comprehensive therapeutic and preventative health services to individual patients, family members and patient groups in a hospital outpatient setting as a primary health resource and physician extender. Service to including guidance in nutrition, common illnesses, accidents, child growth, and development and child rearing. Services to also include Emergency medical treatment. Assess and diagnose needs to produce a plan of action to meet identified needs by providing medical health services to individual and families, and interpretations of x-ray imaging results and laboratory test results and findings. Provide care to address COVID 19 pandemic. Care to include community curbside testing and community vaccination clinics to include on site and off site treatment. Apply Medical Doctor skills in all phases of health care services. Make decisions concerning medical care needs of patients with physicians and designated consultants. Provide lifesaving and support measures in emergency situations. Work with appropriate staff, outer agencies and accepting facilities to medically stabilize and coordinate appropriate urgent and emergent transfers to acute inpatient hospital facilities. Provide thorough and concise written documentation of evaluations, treatment, active orders, medications and referrals through the Electronic Health Record in a timely manner in accordance to the MSU HIM Internal Control policy. Record keeping, release of information and patient confidentiality are in compliance with HIPPA Guidelines. Participates in Quality Assurance/Risk Management activities of the hospital and peer review functions. Have knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) technique, usage and disposal for infectious control purposes. Adhere to guidelines as outlined in the Medical Staff Bylaws. Maintain credentialing and privileges at MSU.
