American Traveler is seeking a Cardiac Telemetry/Step Down RN with strong cardiac experience and Epic proficiency for a 13-week contract in Wisconsin.
Responsibilities- Position is in a 44-bed intermediate cardiac stepdown unit
- Patient population includes post-op cardiac surgeries, arrhythmia, CHF, post-procedure cath, pacer, defib, ablations, vascular, med/surg overflow, and acute cardiac cases
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4
- Fast-paced environment with high patient turnover
- Shift is 12-hour days, 0700-1930
- Float to all inpatient units as needed
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required
- May be placed on low census call with a 2-hour callback minimum
- Uses Epic EMR; 1 year recent Epic experience required
- Primary responsibilities include managing stepdown cardiac patients and high-turnover care
- Must be resilient, adapt well to change, and able to work independently
- Candidates should have strong social and time management skills
- Scrub color is any color
- Mandatory masking during flu season if flu or COVID vaccination is declined
- Holiday coverage and floating required
- Unit closes for certain holidays, so hours may vary
- First time travelers are not eligible
- Active WI or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Ability to pass EKG test in the first week of hire
- Minimum 1 year recent strong cardiac experience in Cardiac SDU, Intermediate Cardiac, or Cardiac ICU
- At least 2 years of IMC, PCU, or Telemetry nursing experience
- Experience administering Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitro drips required
- At least one travel assignment must be completed
- One year recent Epic charting experience required
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
