Job Description
American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg Float RN with a valid MI license and recent acute care experience for a high-acuity hospital environment.
Responsibilities
- Work in a hospital setting as a Medical Surgical Float RN
- Float assignment includes MS units such as AU, OSU, GSU, NVU, CAR, GMU, AMU, and EMCU, and may include CC units for overflow Med Surg/IMC patients
- Patient ratios are typically 4-6:1 on MS units
- Day shift, 4x12 hour shifts from 7:00 to 19:30
- Required to work every other weekend
- Block schedules are not guaranteed
- Primary responsibility is providing direct patient care on various Med/Surg and select IMC/CC units as needed
- Team members are expected to adapt quickly to different units and patient populations
- Holiday requested time off is limited to one day or one eve/day after per major holiday
- First-time travelers with at least one year of experience are welcome to apply
Requirements
- Active MI RN license required
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg experience required
- Current AHA Basic Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required
- Must be comfortable managing inpatient MS ratios of 4-6:1
- Willingness to float across multiple MS and occasional critical care units
- Available for orientation during the first two weeks of the assignment
