A leading healthcare system in Des Moines, IA is seeking a dedicated OB/GYN Hospitalist for a Locum-to-Perm role beginning January 1, 2026. Provide high-impact inpatient maternity care as part of Iowa s only maternity transport team, with robust support and no GYN responsibilities.

Position Highlights

• Start Date: January 1, 2026

• Shift Structure:

  • 24-hour shifts (7 AM 7 AM)

  • 6.5 shifts per month

• Setting: Inpatient OB Hospitalist role

• Telehealth: None

• APP Supervision: Not required

• ️ OBED: 8-bed OB Emergency Department

• Imaging/Lab/Pharmacy: Fully available

• Volume:

  • 1,389 OBED visits/year

  • 463 deliveries/year

• Support:

  • MFM always on call

  • Residents present but not under Hospitalist supervision

• No GYN responsibilities

• EMR: Epic

Job Responsibilities

• Manage OBED patients

• Handle emergent OB cases (vaginal deliveries & C-sections)

• Care for unassigned OB patients

• Participate with Iowa s only maternity transport team
