A hospital-based healthcare organization in Perth Amboy, New Jersey is seeking an experienced OB/GYN Physician to provide in-house hospitalist and laborist coverage on a travel, fixed-rate assignment. This role offers a flexible schedule, strong clinical support, and a well-established OB program.

- Setting: Inpatient hospital / Labor & Delivery
- Schedule: Flexible; scheduled 1-2 months in advance
Shifts:
Weekdays: 8a-5p, 8a-8a, or 5p-8a- Weekends: 8a-8p, 8p-8a, or 8a-8a
- On-Call: No (100% in-house coverage required)
- Support: OB/GYN residents, nursing staff, and 24/7 in-house anesthesia
- Patient Volume: Average 2-3 deliveries per day
- Acuity: Mix of low-risk with some moderate and high-risk patients
- Nursery Level: Level II; delivers patients >32 weeks
Responsibilities
The OB/GYN Physician will be responsible for:
- Providing in-house OB/GYN hospitalist and laborist coverage
- Managing labor and delivery patients from sign-out through shift completion
- Performing floor and emergency department OB/GYN consults
- Managing and operating on gynecologic emergencies as needed
- Collaborating closely with OB/GYN residents and nursing staff
- Participating in daily huddles and patient handoffs
- Ensuring high-quality, patient-centered obstetric care
- Board-certified or board-eligible OB/GYN Physician
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- Active medical license (state license required prior to start)
- Active NPI, DEA, and CDS
- Experience with inpatient OB/GYN and laborist coverage
- Strong clinical judgment in acute and emergent situations
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently in an in-house setting
- Prior hospitalist or laborist experience
- Comfort working alongside residents
- Experience managing moderate to high-risk obstetric cases
- Adaptability to varying shift lengths and schedules
- Team-oriented mindset with a calm, professional bedside manner
