American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care (IMC) onsite telemetry position requiring an active Illinois license, 2 years of recent telemetry experience, and competency with cardiac and emergency response procedures.
Responsibilities- Work in the Intermediate Care (IMC) unit of an acute care, Level I trauma, Magnet-designated hospital
- General telemetry patient population with a daily census of approximately 38
- Night shifts available, with 3x12 or 4x12 hour schedules (18:45–07:15)
- Required to work every other weekend
- Floating to similar units as needed within scope of practice
- Uses Cerner electronic medical record
- Responsibilities include monitoring and managing complex telemetry patients and supporting pre/post cardiac and surgical cases
- Participation in emergency response and utilization of critical care interventions is required
- Team-oriented environment in a large, high-acuity hospital setting
- First time travelers are welcome to apply
- Parking permit is provided at no cost and is arranged during orientation
- Scrubs may be any solid color
- Holiday coverage may be required per department needs
- No radius requirement for local candidates
- All requests for time off should be limited to no more than 5 days
- Active IL RN license required at time of application
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in MS/Tele, telemetry, cardiac tele, PCU, DOU, IMC, or stepdown settings
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, post cardiac angiogram and MI care, pre/post cardiac cath and surgery, and sheath removal
- Skills in cardiovascular, GI, GU/renal, IV therapy, blood product administration, and medication protocols including cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Experience with neurological emergencies (CVA), surgical drains, respiratory support devices (CPAP, BiPAP, HFNC), and wound/vac care
- Previous Cerner EMR experience required
- Charge, teaching hospital, and Level I trauma experience preferred
